I will be giving a talk at the Nelson Hays Library on Surawong Road in Bangkok, as part of the first Bangkok Literary Festival on May 22nd, 2011.

From Rough Guides to Sacred Tattoos – The changing career of a travel writer in Southeast Asia will focus on how my job has changed over the past decade and what challenges lie ahead for freelance writers in Asia.

I will also be presenting, for the first time, my new book, Sacred Skin – Thailand´s Spirit Tattoos. Read a review by Andrew Marshall in this week´s TIME Magazine.

My talk will take place in the library´s Garden Gallery Cafe at 6pm.

Other writers talking about their work include Nic Dunlop, acclaimed author of The Lost Executioner, Philip Cornwell Smith, author of  bestselling Very Thai, as well as fiction writers Chris Moore, John Burdett and Stephen Leather and long term Thailand commentators Chris Baker and Pasuk Phongpaichit.
