ATC Books publishes host of tattoo stories, including Chris Roy – The Death Row Tattooist

The market for good print stories is getting smaller all the time. Especially for off the wall, niche or sub-cultural stuff. So it’s great to see some of my recent work published specially to be read on smart phones. Almost everyone has one and there’s more to life than Candy Crush. ATC Tattoo Books have […]

The Irrawaddy Literary Festival – A Mirror to Burma’s Continuing Uncertainties

I am at the second Irrawaddy Literary Festival in Mandalay, organized by Jane Heyn, the wife of the former British ambassador to Myanmar. This second festival is held in Mandalay and has been in preparation for almost a year. Top writers appearing this time around include Jung Chang, Louis de Bernieres, and Thant Myint U. […]

Bangkok Night of Noir

The second Bangkok Night of Noir had a fantastic line-up of  mostly Asia based crime writers: Cara Black, James Newman, John Burdett, Christopher G. Moore, Dean Barett, John Marango and painter Chris Coles. Great start to 2014!!! I read a chapter from The Man with the Golden Mind, which is out with Exhibit A in […]

In another effort of shameless self-promotion, I have created a Tom Vater facebook page about my writing, which will run new and old stories, some of them culled from this blog, others from other online sources. If you are on facebook, join up and read interesting stuff about Asia […]

New Author page at Amazon Author Central

I have opened an author page on Amazon (Author Central) which will keep Amazon surfers abreast of my activities. Not all of my titles are currently featured there, but readers will find a page with info on publications and a new blog , as well as other news from my literary twilight zone.

My Amazon Online Store

You can now buy some of my book titles via a new Amazon feature on my website (www.tomvater.com).              There’s a new link to press, right at the top of the left sidebar, the so-called Amazon Store. Unfortunately, not all my titles can be found there, but it’s a start.

Teaching the Termites – Tom Vater on the pleasures of hotel libraries

I love libraries, bookshops, even a pile of books to look through will do. And I like hotels with a decent library. Most hotels I stay in, whether up-scale, flea-pit or somewhere in between, don’t have libraries. A couple months ago, I was staying at the Z Hotel in Puri, Orissa, India, one of my […]
