‘New museum in city’s infamous Patpong red light zone reveals the CIA agents who used to hold court in its go-go bars’

I was interviewed by Richard S. Ehrlich on the CIA’s history in Bangkok in Asia Times today for his article ‘Glorifying sex and CIA in Vietnam War-era Bangkok‘.

“A photo of one of those Poe necklaces was given to me by a Thai patrol border force soldier in 2007,” said Tom Vater, co-author of the documentary film, “The Most Secret Place on Earth: America’s Covert War in Laos.”

“We used the image in the film to illustrate just how far beyond rhyme and reason the American war in Southeast Asia had become,” Vater said in an interview.

I co-wrote the screenplay for Marc Eberle’s The Most Secret Place on Earth, a feature documentary on the CIA’s covert war in Laos between 1960 and 1975.
