Francis Bacon in Burma?
These images are from the wall of a Buddhist temple in Mandalay, Burma. Depictions of human wrong-doing (according to Buddhist morality) were interspersed with these rather garish and horrific representation of the consequences of such actions. Catholic hell can learn a bit from these demonic impressions of the consequences of our actions. Some of the paintings though reminded me less of religious imagery than of modern art, with a few shades od Francis Bacon lurking amongst these ogres.
